Online Shopping

I’m happy to report that I have successfully made the transition from in-store shopping to online shopping, although I should mention that I did not do so willingly. It was essentially forced upon me. I fought it tooth and nail every step of the way. In the words of Dylan Thomas, I did not “go gentle into that good night.“

I really didn’t, but I seem to be making the adjustment pretty well, not that I had much choice in the matter. The stores that I shop at are closing down right and left. Gone are the days when I could walk into a store and browse. I could see and touch everything, and I could try on whatever appealed to me. I was known to try on a dozen or more outfits before I made a purchase, and I could go home confident that I had what I wanted.

Now everything has changed. I’ve accepted that, and I am determined to go with the flow. Why not? Everyone else does. My daughter informs me that she orders everything online because she hates to go shopping in stores and try things on. That came as quite a shock to me. I always loved that. I got excited about shopping. I would go through the mall with a spring in my step and a song in my heart. Now I sit in front of a computer. It’s just not the same, though I must admit, albeit grudgingly, that there’s an amazing selection of everything you could possibly want right at your fingertips - literally, so there’s a lot to be said for the ease and efficiency of online shopping. Sometimes it’s a little bit hit and miss, but I’m warming up to it. Never let it be said that I can’t keep up with the times.
